Find a digit's place value
Find a digit's place value
A fundamental place value skill in Grade 3 is learning to identify the place value of a specific digit within a multi-digit number. Students are typically given a number (up to four digits) and asked to determine the place (such as ones, tens, hundreds, or thousands) of an underlined or specified digit. Sometimes they may also be asked for the value of that digit (e.g., in the number 6, 273, the digit 2 is in the hundreds place, and its value is 200). This skill requires students to understand the structure of the base-ten system and recognize that a digit's position determines its value. Our Grade 3 worksheets provide US students with focused practice in identifying both the place name and the value of individual digits within numbers.
